Literacy

We encourage and support children to develop a love for books and stories.  We invite parents and carers in every week to read with their children and borrow a book to take home to share with their children. 

Our Speech and Language Curriculum is based on a number of different books, which focus on the key vocabulary the children need to know.  We then, read from a selection of books that use similar vocabularly, to help practice and consolidate and also, challenge and broaden.

We read daily from a selection of carefully chosen books, that have repetitive refrains, to encourage the children to participate and begin to learn the stories off by heart.

We encourage the children to mark make throughout the provision.  We offer a range of interesting and fun activities and matierials to practice their emerging skills.
