Admissions
All 4 year old children can start Netherthorpe Primary School, full or part-time, in the September following their 4th birthday. Parents may defer entry to school until compulsory school age if they wish, i.e. the term after the child’s 5th birthday, within the same academic year, at the point they judge their child to be ready to start school.
Attendance at the school’s nursery does not guarantee admission to the school and a school place in Reception must be applied for through the pupil admission team of Sheffield City Council.
Netherthorpe Primary School will endeavour to learn and understand the needs of each child through transition meetings prior to the child starting school. Parents are invited to make an appointment with the Headteacher to discuss their child’s needs and seek advice about the option most suitable for their child.
In Year Admissions:
Netherthorpe Primary School praticipates inthe Local Authority's Co-ordinated Admission Scheme for in-year admissions. If a parent or carer of a child on our roll wishes to aply for a transfer to another school, they must obtain a transfer form from the school for completion of Section 2. The applcation form must then be sent to the Local Authority which will process the application on the parent's/carer's behalf. The Local Authority will confirm the outcome of the application in writing within 15 school days. If the applicaiton is refused, the Local authority with advise on the statutory appeal procedure. Families New to the City:
For families new to the city, they should contact the children Missing Education Teamat ed-missingchildren@sheffield.gov.uk or 0114 273 6462 to arrange an appointment to make an admission application.
