Attendance & Holiday Requests
At Netherthorpe we strongly believe that good attendance and punctuality are vital for a child to maximise their potential and to ensure that he or she can build strong friendships and take a full part in school life. By promoting the importance of attendance and punctuality we are helping to equip our children for life and support their futures as employees and employers. This will help them to make a positive contribution to society.
We have lots of systems in place in school to monitor and encourage good attendance and we also need the help of parents to improve our attendance still further. The government has changed its term time leave policy and legally there is now no entitlement for parents to take their child on holiday during term time. Any application for leave must be in exceptional circumstances and the head teacher must be satisfied that the circumstances warrant the granting of leave. Parents can be fined for taking their child on holiday during term time without consent from the school.
Please see our Atendance policy below for the procedures we follow: these are in line wit the DfE and Sheffield City Council.
