Healthy Mind Champions

Date: 19th Sep 2016 @ 4:22pm

Last Thursday saw the launch of our Healthy Mind Champions to the rest of the school during assembly. As you may be aware, there is currently a campaign across the country highlighting awareness about mental health and well-being. Paddy Vessey, one of the CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) nurses, came to introduce the concept of how important it is for the children to talk to someone if they are feeling worried in any way rather than keep thoughts, feelings and worries bottled up.

Over the coming months we will be learning more about Healthy Minds and finding out ways to help us all feel as safe and happy as possible. If you are interested in finding out more about this and how you might approach speaking with your child from a parent's viewpoint, please come in to school to talk to your class teacher or me. This is an area that schools have not previously been asked to teach or even really talk about explicitly and we welcome any thoughts and ideas you might have on the matter. We are part of the Healthy Minds pilot and, as such can also call on CAMHS for support and advice.
