Quick News from Headteacher June 2016

Thank you to all the parents and carers who helped children make wonderful crowns as part of our celebration of the Queen's 90th Birthday celebrations. The childen looked absolutely fantastic dressed in red, white and blue or dressed as kings, queens' princes and princesses!

The afternoon started out really well with a parade of crowns around the playground. I had the difficult task of choosing eight children to join me for tea. This honestly was practically impossible as so many children had clearly made a huge effort to create interesting and original crowns! However, decisions were made and all the children sat down to enjoy afternoon tea, either with me or with their Pupil Voice groups. We all enjoyed scones, strawberries and fruit juice and then had the opportunity to play games like 'pin the tail on the corgi' and posing to have pictures taken as the queen.

After this we reconvened in the school hall to watch a live webcast of the Queen's celebrations. Unfortunately, there was a technical error and so we missed the beginning of the broadcast. Instead we had a Royal Family quiz and shared knowledge of facts about the Queen.

I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Modest for inspiring the event and also for the hard work of our Teaching Assistants for working out all the details and preparing the food. Finally, I would like to thank you again for helping the children create such fantastic crowns.

Thank you for your continued support,

Elizabeth Gray
