Progression of Skills

We have already created a progression of skills for most subjects for all year groups and are in the process of completing progression of skills for remaining  areas of the curriculum. These progressions, apart from English, Maths and Computing, are based on materials from Chris Quigley and have been adapted by subject leaders to meet the needs of our children. At the end of each year, we will review how accurately these progressions meet the needs of our children and make tweaks or amendments, as necessary. We use the National Curriculum documents for progression in English and Maths and Learn Sheffield's progression of skills for Computing.

PE is an area that is being updated this year. School currently uses the Val Sabin schemes of work for most units and supplements these with SoW provided via the Schools' Sports Partnership. PHSE is also an area that is being updated. At present, school is awaiting approved Health and Relationship schemes of work that are currently out for consultation with major faith groups across the city. School. School is also working on updating skills for RE this year - these will be added to this page when available.

The aim is for skills to be built up steadily over each year, returned and building on previous understanding and knowledge. The context in which these skills are taught varies depending on the topic or book that the children are studying. Further details of the skilss and contexts for learning for each year group from Y1 to Y6 can be found on class pages. We are using the current EYFS curriculum for children in F1 (Nursery) and F2 (Reception).

The skills progression for each subject can be viewed below.
